Designer Rakhee

Raksha Bandhan, lovingly called Rakhi, is one of the most cherished Hindu festivals celebrating the sacred bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a beautiful Rakhi (decorative thread) on their brothers’ wrists, symbolizing love, protection, and blessings. In return, brothers vow to protect their sisters and shower them with gifts.

What makes Raksha Bandhan unique is that it transcends blood relations—cousins, friends, and even those bound by affection rather than family ties, join in this celebration of love, trust, and unity. In recent times, Rakhis are also sent to soldiers and distant loved ones, making the festival even more meaningful.

This year, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on 9th August, coinciding with the auspicious Bhadra Mukta period. Interestingly, this day also marks the conclusion of the holy month of Sawan, the final Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva, and the closing of the sacred Amarnath Yatra.

🎁 Rakhi Market Buzz

With the festive spirit high, markets are abuzz with designer Rakhis in vibrant styles and themes:

  • Trendy Rakhis: Acrylic, stone-studded, meenakari, lumba, bracelet-style, and even Kanha Bansuri Rakhis sourced from Kolkata and Delhi.
  • Kids’ Favorites: Cartoon character Rakhis featuring Captain America, Avengers, Doraemon, Harry Potter, and Peppa Pig. These come with lights, spinners, and sound effects—priced between ₹50 to ₹200.
  • Elegant Rakhis for Elders: Purple, light blue, pink, and sea-green Rakhi designs adorned with Radha-Krishna images, peacock feathers, and stone embellishments, ranging from ₹5 to ₹550.
  • Special Editions: Brother-sister-in-law (Bhabhi-Bhaiya) Rakhis in paper and designer formats (₹80–₹250), along with customized photo Rakhis (₹80–₹200).

Both offline and online sales are brisk this year, with beautifully packaged Rakhi sets (including Roli and Akshat) being especially popular.

Women throng the city markets—especially Upper Bazaar, Ranchi—to handpick the perfect Rakhi for their loved ones, making this festival a grand celebration of love and togetherness.
