During my time in Australia, I made it a habit to take early morning strolls. As everything around me was new and unfamiliar, I always carried my camera—or at least my mobile phone—so I could capture the natural beauty that seemed to exist at every turn. Australia is truly a paradise for anyone who loves photography.

During my time in Australia, I made it a habit to take early morning strolls. As everything around me was new and unfamiliar, I always carried my camera—or at least my mobile phone—so I could capture the natural beauty that seemed to exist at every turn. Australia is truly a paradise for anyone who loves photography.

One such memorable morning, while wandering through Islington Park, I was drawn to a small rivulet meandering gently through the trees. The first rays of the morning sun were stretching long shadows across the ground, adding depth and perspective to the scene. Dewdrops sparkled in the golden light, adding a magical touch that felt straight out of a painting.

However, I faced a typical challenge: the sun was directly in front of me, creating flares that spoiled my shot. To overcome this, I took shelter under a nearby tree, using its branches not only to block the glare but also to add a natural frame that enhanced the composition. This small adjustment brought a beautiful three-dimensional quality to the image.

The soft golden light of the early sun bathed the grass and leaves, creating a vibrant and glowing scene that looked like a picture postcard. This photo, taken simply with my mobile phone, showcases how the warm morning light can transform an ordinary landscape into something truly spectacular.

Sunlight, especially during sunrise or sunset, interacts with the atmosphere in unique ways—casting hues of orange and red, highlighting textures, and revealing the delicate details of nature. The “first light” before sunrise begins to shape the landscape with long shadows and a soft, ethereal glow, making it one of the best times to observe and capture the world around us.

The open fields and tree-lined paths of Islington Park, commonly used for grazing or agriculture, offered a perfect stage for this natural display. It reminded me of places around the world where the sunrise holds special significance:

·         Kiribati, often called the “Country of the Rising Sun,” located in the Pacific Ocean,

·         Dong village in Arunachal Pradesh, India, known as the first place to see the sun in the country,

·         The Greek name Helia, meaning “sun” or “daughter of the sun,”

·         And the Japanese word Hinata, referring to “the first rays of the sun.”

In Hindu mythology, the sun (Surya) is also seen as the divine father of several significant figures, including Yamraj (God of Death), Shanidev (God of Justice), Ashwini Kumaras (healers of the gods), and Revant (a radiant warrior).

This photograph, captured at dawn in Islington Park, is a reflection of those timeless stories and the universal beauty of morning light.
