A taste of Australia
A taste of
Australia: Delicious meals at a hidden gem
Traveling to a
new country can be a sensory overload, especially when it comes to food.
Everything tastes different, and the currency exchange can be a shock! I
experienced this firsthand when I visited Australia many years ago. A simple
cup of tea and a samosa cost me the equivalent of 300 rupees, which was
outrageous compared to what I was used to at home.
It took me a
while to adjust, but eventually, I learned to embrace the new experience. My
son suggested I forget about the exchange rate and focus on enjoying the unique
flavors of Australian cuisine.
One day, he
introduced me to a delightful canteen-style food outlet near his house. This
wasn't your ordinary restaurant; it was run by students from TAFE University's
vocational courses in hospitality, cookery, and kitchen management.
TAFE: Where
education meets deliciousness

TAFE University
is a leading provider of vocational education in Australia, and this food
outlet was a testament to their excellent programs. Students used it as a
platform to sell the meals they prepared during their courses at a fraction of
the price of other restaurants.
From 11 am to 2
pm, the outlet bustled with activity. People flocked there to enjoy a variety
of delectable dishes, from fish and chips and lamb curries to freshly barbecued
meats and salads. The ambience was serene and quiet, and the food was
absolutely delicious, all at an affordable price.
