Perspective
Perspective
Perspective
in photography keeps lots of meaning which only an expert photographer can do. This
technique usually creates optical illusion to make the subject appear more
larger, smaller, closer or farther away from the place where it is taken. For
example you might have seen people holding the Taj Mahal from its top or
holding the leaning tower of Pisa by single hand or finger. You might have seen
the pictures of somebody taken the sun into their mouth. These are optical perspective
which creates illusion in the minds of the viewers.
You might be
eager that why I am saying all this to you. As long time back one fine morning
at the sea beach of Digha in West Bengal I was taking morning stroll, as I
always carry my camera with me, so carrying camera on that morning gave me a
great dividend, as those days I haven’t heard about digital camera so I had my
Nikon F 90 with a short zoom an analogue film camera with me. So while moving around
the beach at early morning I saw a jet plane is passing through the horizon and
its streak is burning in the morning sun light and the perceptively the jet
liner was flying above the rising sun. Although it was a natural phenomena but
that scene attracted me very much and I waited for the jet crosses over the sun
then I took the shot. To establish my shot I composed the people paying
oblations in the foreground, the water in the sea and the dramatic event which
was taking place in the distant sky. Those days there were limitation of frames
in the films in the camera not like these days when abundant frames can be
shot.
So, with
those limitations I made my frame by composing and placing the ingredient such
as people, the sea, the sun and the aero plane in a single frame and made a
telling picture. Being a photojournalist in a long span of my career I have
learnt that a picture must say something otherwise that will be an absurd
frame. So far perspective is concern it is a key element of composition and photographer
often look for fresh perspective to make a telling picture.
Every
individual has his/her own perspective to see the world by their own way, that
is why makes their work special. So to take your picture on different level it
is essential to know how to use the different type of perspective. This is the
most versatile tools in photography arsenal. There are some guidelines for
perspective photography such as ---
1.
Linear
perspective in this perspective the converging of lines such as railway track
looks converging at a point in distant.
2.
High
angle perspective in this way the camera angle kept in high position which make
the subject smaller in look.
3.
Low
angle perspective makes the subject high or bigger when the camera is kept low.
4.
Forced
perspective in this type of perspective involve of manipulation of the size and
the distant of the subject.
5.
Fish
eye perspective give the perspective a dramatic effect by making the subjects
converge in 360 degree, but rarely use. Mostly used in architectural and interiors
use.
So, far the picture which I have shot there is no jugglery or
manipulation in this. It is a direct photo shoot. It is the perspective of the
situation which looks the picture in this way. So while taking pictures a
photographer must keep in mind about the perspective to enhance his pictures.
