Unveiling the Beauty of Phulwaria Dam and the Strength of its Boatwomen #Bihar #Women Empowerment #Travel

This captivating story takes us on a journey to the heart of Bihar, where the majestic Phulwaria Dam stands tall. Built in 1985 across the tranquil Tilaya River, this dam offers a haven of serenity with its vast, cool waters and lush green meadows.

My exploration led me to discover a scene that resonated deeply - women skillfully navigating boats across the dam's expanse. This brought to mind International Women's Day, where we celebrate the power of women. Here, in this rustic setting, the sight of women operating boats for women, perhaps ferrying villagers across the water or carrying out their daily routines, echoed that sentiment beautifully.

These women, hailing from villages like Partauniyan, Pasraila, and Phulwariya Khurd, not only navigate the waters but also utilize them for sustenance. They fish the dam's depths, sometimes even transporting livestock, making this a source of income for them.

The story doesn't end there. Phulwaria Dam holds significance for Hindus, with legends stating that saints like Shringi, Durvasa, Gautama, and Lomasa had their ashrams in the surrounding peaks.

Interestingly, even in the realm of large vessels, ships are often referred to as feminine entities, symbolizing the safety and guidance a mother or goddess provides to sailors. This connection between women and boats transcends cultures and adds another layer to this tale.

Phulwaria Dam serves as a testament to both breathtaking beauty and the strength of its women. These boatwomen, going about their daily tasks, demonstrate the power and resourcefulness that women embody. Their story is a reminder that women are not behind in any field, and their contribution, big or small, is invaluable.
