The Ant

The Ant

Long time back while moving around a park I spotted an ant quenching his thirst, I trained my camera upon tiny creature with Macro lens to get that details. Later I goggled and came to know some interesting facts about it.

1. There are more than 12000 of different ants on the earth.

2. An ant can lift 20 times more weight than his/her weight.

3.  Ant colonies control by single one ant that is called Queen Ant who control all the ants.

4. A single Queen ant lives for many years and lays millions of eggs.

5. Ants don’t have eras.

6. Ants are very hard working.

Its scientific name is Formicidae and it live everywhere under the trees, its roots, they don’t live in Antartica, Greenland, Iceland. Mostly they live in soil, leaf littered or decaying plants. It is an omnivorous creature that thrives on plants, animals, common food are leaves fungus, nectar fruits, vegetables, sugar, insects, lizards, amphibians and insect eggs. They are the strongest creature due to its size a single ant can carry 20 to 50 times of weight than his own body weight. And in a group they can work together to carry more weighty things just like twigs, leaves etc.

In every ant colony has one or more queens. Queen Job is to reproduce but female and male ants are workers. They don’t have the reproduction system. Ants are social in their own colony, they don’t act individually instead they act as per the requirement of their colonies. Ants have two eyes containing 1000 lenses which can see close subjects.

Ants mostly drink water from small droplets and small puddles. While other species of ants get their source of water from plant saps and flowers that hold nectar. In the picture which I shot an ant drinking water from droplets substantiate my write up.
