 Feelings

Two three days back I was sitting in my drawing room and watching news, suddenly my wife came and snatch the remote and began surfing some of old movies and songs and  in this way she suddenly dug up a  prized treasure trove, that was a song filmed on Meena Kumari and Pradeep Kumar of the film ‘Bheegi Raat’ , what a soulful song it was “Mohabbat se dekha Khafa ho gaye hai,” and as the film surged ahead another very touching song “ Dil jo na kah sakaa wohi raj dil” filmed on Meena Kumari during rain in which she and her film soul mate Pradeep Kumar took shelter in a cottage with the fire lit, during heavy downpour completely drenched, what a extremely attractive and appealing song filmed on both the duo, the scene is so incredibly  romantic  that the eye balls just stuck up with the TV screen like Fevicol. And we were glued to TV. This song reminds me the song filmed on Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna’s film Aradhana song “Roop Tera Mastana Pyar mera Diwana” but Meena Kumari’s this song is the ultimate. I have never seen her filmed in this way in any of her films, she and Pradeep Kumar just looked stunning.

Lately this song is also filmed on Pradeep Kumar in Md Rafi voice which is also equally exciting. Later we surfed Meena Kumari’s songs and came across many beautiful songs, such as ‘Bar bar Tujhe kya samjaye Payal ki jhankaar and Kabhi to Milegi kahin to milegi’ of 1962 film Aarti.  Also another song’ Aapne yaad dilaya to mujhe yaad Aaya’ of the same film sung by Late Lata Mangeskar and Md Rafi, also “Aise to na dekho ki mar jaaye kahin hum”. Later I surfed Meena Kumari’s many songs and films such as “ Dil Apana aur Preet Parai” and lots of classic films just spread over namely “Dil Ek Mandir, Ek hi Rasta, Aarti, Saheb bibi aur ghulam, Main Chup Rahoongi”. These classic films took me into down memories lane of my teenage period.

Now a day’s all the TV channels are boiling into the political turmoil’s news and the anchors asking piercing questions with the political leaders or their spokespersons cause heating the the atmosphere of the house and churning the brains of the viewers, so. These 1960s films and their songs give very soothing effect like ointment gently rubbed over burning wounds and gentel cool and calm breeze blowing over placid water.
